Hi teachers,
Wow! Great tool , great details about different skills. I found Rubistar a valuable website to create Rubrics easily.
The most important reason I will start using it that it saves my time and energy. Thus, starting from know I will not think a lot about the details I have to consider in creating a rubric. In addition, it saves my energy and let me think more in other creative methods of teaching and preparing visual aids or activities for my students.
GREAT TECHNOLOGY! I won't go back to the old ways of setting rubrics.
Love,
Mariah

ReplyDeleteExactly, Mariah! When I learned we would have to come up with the rubrics, I thought it would take me ages! To my surprise, it's so simple! I can add to those ideas, save my energy and concentrate on some other activities!
ReplyDeleteI'm happy to know you liked my WebQuest! I'm very motivated and I think the enthusiasm has rubbed off on the students!

Hello Mariha,
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with you, Rubrics are fantastic and useful tools for students´ assessment, also rubrics give us the opportunity to know more about students’ abilities when they have to produce their skills in a real way.
Additionally I consider that we have to apply this tool to evaluate students constantly in order to monitoring their knowledge.
Best regards,
Annie.
I think that at this point we share experiences of our students (we often forget the time when we were students) and that is the fact that new and uknown things tend to be repulsive, and we usually hold on to what we already know (as our students do).
ReplyDeleteWe (I share your experience) found WebQuest and Rubrics to be hard and complicated, just because we hadn't used it before. Once we became involved and started working on them, things were much better. So, unless we try new things and use it in our classrooms, we can never actually advance in our field.

Hello all,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comments.
Eldin, I totally agree with you and what I know that in order to give what the students deserve I usually explain my expectation and I give my students the Rubric I use in order to involve them in my decision and let them evaluate their effort.
Don't forget that we have different rubric for each production ( assignments, writing letter, speaking, reading a text ...etc)
Thanks,
Mariah
